FILA has teamed up with Grammy Award winning artist, Lil Jon, to launch a limited-edition capsule including two t-shirts and a footwear design. The Atlanta native has been a longtime fan of the brand and worked with FILA to add his own personal touch to these styles, with a special nod to his community.
“I’m from Atlanta where we use the acronym ‘Forever I Love Atlanta.’ We rock FILA, and we’ve never stopped rockin’ FILA. The acronym and the city are intertwined,” says Lil Jon.
The FILA x Lil Jon capsule features a classic t-shirt, offered in both black and white, and embellished with a colorful graphic print. In designing the tees, Lil Jon recruited Atlanta-based creative Richard Montgomery, aka Freako Rico, known for his illustrations that fuse the world of comics and hip-hop. His featured design incorporates the very popular “AYEEE!” – which has few different meanings, one of which is of course to rep Atlanta – along with a cityscape, and the FILA Renno x Lil Jon footwear atop the word Atlanta.
“Freako Rico is a well-respected artist in Atlanta and it was important to me that we use a local creative to represent my hometown. His bright and vibrant illustrations and his 90’s design style captured the freshness of the FILA Renno,” continues Lil Jon.
The FILA Renno x Lil Jon was crafted in pink, red, and white hues, with hints of metallic silver. Lil Jon chose the color combination to offer something unique and unexpected for fans. The shoe includes a white leather base with pops of pink, a red FILA flag, and dual-colored red and white laces. The “AYEEE” is included on the shoe’s tongue, with additional branding hits featured throughout. The sockliner is embellished with an all-over, repeating graphic print that combines both “ATL” and “AYEEE!”
