This month’s issue brings you inside Miga Korean BBQ, a family-owned gem in Mississauga established in 2004. Since then, Miga has built its reputation on premium Korean barbecue and a charismatic dining experience, combining charcoal-fueled table grilling with sleek modern interiors and a welcoming atmosphere. This season, their halal-friendly menu offers a thoughtful twist—ensuring that everyone in the GTA can enjoy Miga’s high standards and authentic flavors.

Walking into Miga, you’re greeted by the hum of tabletop grills and a balance of minimalistic design and warm lighting. After ordering their Halal Combo, we were immediately impressed by the lively appetizer array: gochu wings, gochu shrimp, bulgogi noodles, kimchi pancakes, Miga salad, house-made potato chips, and pickled radish. The pancakes were crisp yet tender, the noodles rich with sweet depth, and the wings delivered a careful punch of spice. But the shrimp were the star—coated in tangy, fiery gochujang, they struck a surprising chord of umami. According to a local Redditor, “Miga korean bbq has some halal meat options… They also gave us halal tallow for oiling the grill,” underscoring just how well they’ve thought through halal diners’ needs.

What sets Miga apart is not only the dedication to halal—but how it’s integrated. They use a separate grill for halal meats and even provide lamb fat for greasing, ensuring no cross-contamination. The selection—lamb chops, spicy chicken, Australian Wagyu sirloin, and classic bulgogi—all arrive trimmed and marinated, ready to sizzle. The highlight, without question, was the wagyu: gorgeously marbled, melt-in-your-mouth tender, and rich in flavor. Tripadvisor reviews praise the combo #2’s “divine” meats and side dishes—“worth every penny” despite a slightly premium.

To complement the robust flavors, we sampled their Peach Komoro mocktail: a light, subtly fizzy mix that refreshed the palate and paired wonderfully with smoky, spicy meats. This option typifies Miga’s approach—offering visually appealing, thoughtful drinks that elevate the meal rather than distract from it.

Finishing on a sweet note, we tried the chocolate cake: smooth, rich, and indulgent without tipping into heaviness. Staff capped the evening by offering individual spoons to take home—a small gesture, perhaps, but one that spoke volumes about their attention to hospitality.

Ambience plays no small role here. Inside, clean lines and built-in grills create a polished yet comfortable setting, while private booth areas offer intimacy. Outside, Miga’s patio is transformed under summer evenings by string lights, potted greenery, and a flower wall—ideal for a relaxed, Instagram-ready vibe

Even their banchan—the pickled sides—are made fresh daily, reinforcing their care for quality at every level.

Over more than 17 years, Miga has consistently balanced quality and hospitality, creating a vibrant space suited to group dinners, family nights, or date nights. Their embrace of halal options isn’t an afterthought—it’s a statement of inclusivity executed with precision.
