WOK BOYZ: A Taste of Asia Comes to Toronto

We recently had the opportunity to visit WOK BOYZ in Toronto’s Liberty Village for a dining experience unlike any other. Originating in Dubai in 2017, WOK BOYZ has made its mark as a popular Asian street food sensation, with locations in Ghana and Oman, and now they’re taking on North America by opening their first Canadian location in Toronto.

Nestled in the bustling Liberty Market Building at 171 E Liberty St, Toronto, WOK BOYZ offers a vibrant and inviting space where patrons can immerse themselves in a culinary journey through the flavors of Asia. The grand opening on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024, marked a significant milestone for the brand, signaling its commitment to sharing its passion for Asian street food with a new audience.

WOK BOYZ has garnered acclaim for its innovative approach to traditional Asian dishes. With a focus on customizability and fusion, the menu boasts a tantalizing array of options, from stir-fry noodles to rice bowls, along with a variety of Asian-inspired snacks and beverages. During our visit, we had the pleasure of sampling some of WOK BOYZ’s signature offerings, and we were thoroughly impressed by the quality and creativity evident in each dish. Here’s a breakdown of our culinary adventure:

Thai Papaya Salad:
A refreshing start to our meal, the Thai Papaya Salad was a symphony of flavors and textures. Crisp green papaya tossed with green beans, cherry tomatoes and peanuts, offered a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and spicy notes. This vibrant salad was a testament to WOK BOYZ’s commitment to authenticity and freshness.

Shrimp Tempura:
Next up was the Shrimp Tempura, a classic dish executed to perfection. The shrimp were impeccably crispy on the outside yet tender and succulent on the inside, showcasing the skillful technique of the kitchen. Served with a tangy dipping sauce, this dish was a delightful combination of flavors and textures.

Spicy Korean Wings:
For those craving bold and fiery flavors, the Spicy Korean Wings did not disappoint. Each bite was a burst of heat and sweetness, with the crispy exterior giving way to juicy, flavorful meat. The K-drama of flavors was evident in every succulent bite, making this dish a standout favorite.

Shrimp Siu Mai:

Ramen:

Curry Laksa:

Kung Pao:
Last but not least, the Kung Pao was a delicious blend of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors. Tender pieces of chicken were stir-fried with crunchy peanuts, bell peppers, and onions, coated in a sticky, tangy sauce. This dish was a perfect representation of WOK BOYZ’s commitment to quality ingredients and bold flavors.

Tom Yum:
A quintessential Thai soup, Tom Yum is renowned for its bold and invigorating flavors. WOK BOYZ’s rendition of this classic dish features a fragrant broth infused with prime ingredients creating a tantalizing balance of sour, spicy, and savory notes. Served with plump shrimp and fresh vegetables, each spoonful of Tom Yum is a burst of aromatic delight.

Tom Kha:
Another Thai favorite, Tom Kha is a creamy and aromatic coconut soup that exudes comfort and warmth. WOK BOYZ’s version of Tom Kha combines creamy coconut milk with fragrant lemongrass, galangal, and lime leaves, resulting in a velvety broth that is both soothing and flavorful. Sweet Corn Soup:
