JUNO Award Winner Suzie McNeil Announces New Album Line 49

A Soul-Powered Project Reimagining Canadian Classics

Canadian powerhouse vocalist Suzie McNeil is set to release her upcoming album Line 49 on June 26 on all streaming platforms.

Produced by Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Carrie Underwood) and Evan Frederiksen, this project is a bold and heartfelt collection that reimagines classic Canadian songs through the rich, emotional lens of soul music. Where Northern roots meet southern soul, Line 49 breathes new life into some of Canada’s most beloved songs – stretching across decades of iconic songwriting and reshaping them with upbeat modern arrangements, laced with pop and reggae elements.

The album also features the long-awaited original song “Soul Life,” which McNeil co-wrote with Marty Casey (Lovehammers) and Ty Taylor (Vintage Trouble) during her time on Rock Star: INXS, with Marti Frederiksen later added to the songwriting credits. Initially performed as her featured original song on the series, McNeil recorded it for Line 49 to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary and fulfill a longtime fan request.

Line 49 is a deeply personal project for McNeil, inspired by a promise to her late father, and is delivered with McNeil’s unmistakable vocal prowess.

“When my dad was alive, he always wanted me to record an album of Canadian songs. Since his passing, I’ve decided to make it happen, and dedicate this record to him… I’ve switched my musical direction to soul since 2017, so I thought it would be a fun idea to rearrange these tunes into a soul feel,” said McNeil.

A defining figure in Canadian music, Suzie McNeil has built a career spanning television, stage, touring, and recording. She first broke through as the last woman standing on CBS’s Rockstar: INXS and has since shared stages with international artists including P!nk, Aerosmith, Alan Frew and more.

McNeil also starred as “Oz” in Mirvish Productions’ We Will Rock You in Toronto and has led multiple genre-crossing projects, including The Loving Mary Band and her 10-piece soul collective The Chain Reaction – further establishing her reputation as a dynamic and versatile live performer. Her gold-certified hit “SuperGirl” and a string of releases that have reached the Top 20 on Canadian pop charts continue to underscore her impact as a recording artist.
