Hailing from London, Ontario, rising indie pop singer-songwriter John Fellner continues to make his mark with the announcement of his upcoming EP Boundaries, set for release on May 29 through MCMXVI / Slaight Music, and distributed by Universal Music Canada. Alongside the release, Fellner will embark on a run of Canadian tour dates this spring, opening for Brother Elsey and bringing his emotionally driven songs to stages across Ontario.
Fellner’s music sits somewhere between nostalgic and fresh, rooted in indie pop with a strong focus on heartfelt lyricism and contemporary melodies. The result is a sound that feels both intimate and expansive – grounded in real emotion, but still full of movement. What stands out most is the emotional honesty in his writing, carried through in small but intentional details: a quiet guitar line, a piano melody that lingers, or layered harmonies that bring a subtle warmth to the surface.

“‘Boundaries’ is the all-encompassing theme of this second EP,” explained Fellner. “The four songs explore the different types of boundaries we experience while trying to accept the choices we’ve made along the way. I hope this EP encourages listeners to reflect and question the boundaries in their own lives.”
Boundaries explores themes of self-awareness, emotional limits, and the complexity of human relationships. The lead single “Cold Feet” offers an upbeat yet introspective take on hesitation and second chances, posing the question of when it’s worth pushing past uncertainty. The follow-up single “Green Lights” dives into mixed signals and misread situations, where decisions feel right in the moment but unravel over time. The EP’s focus track, “Harry Go Round,” tells the story of a character caught between perception and reality, highlighting the consequences of avoiding personal truth and the cyclical nature of self-sabotage.

Before stepping into the spotlight as an artist, Fellner made a name for himself as a JUNO-nominated producer and songwriter, working with artists such as Preston Pablo, Haviah Mighty, Greyson Chance and Sam Drysdale. With over 80 million streams to his credit as a producer, his transition into a solo career has been marked by the same emotional depth and attention to detail that defined his behind-the-scenes work.
His 2025 debut EP Crossroads generated significant buzz, with single “Broke Skin” earning iHeartRadio’s Future Star pick, peaking at #19 on the Canadian Mediabase CHR chart and reaching an audience of over 1.4 million. He’s since been recognized through RBC’s Emerging Musician Program, the Aeolian Hall songwriting competition, and Slaight Music’s It’s Your Shot contest.

With Boundaries, Fellner continues to refine his voice as an artist, offering a body of work that bridges past and present influences while leaning fully into emotional honesty. As he brings these songs to audiences across Canada this spring, Fellner further establishes himself as one of the country’s most compelling emerging voices in pop.
